Players can modify cars in order to sell them for more money, but, as of Title Update 1.10, vehicles without a tracker cannot be sold for more than $10,000.
Generally, luxury coupes and SUVs are the most valuable. Payment for vehicles varies between $500 and $17,500. Stolen personal vehicles and stolen high end vehicles (valued at $50,000 and higher) cannot be sold. Players can only sell 1 vehicle every in-game day (48 minutes in real-time). It is lowered by $54 if the car was hijack while it was occupied. The selling price is lowered by $70 if the window(s) are broken. Different vehicles sell for different prices. Players can steal cars then sell them for cash at the Los Santos Customs for 1/10th of their value. Selling cars off the street is probably the quickest, easiest and most efficient way of making money in GTA 5 Online.
